Thus far 27 people have been arrested for various crimes including immigration status verification checks.
The operation is part of combating crime and includes various police units including immigration, crime intelligence, K9, detectives, BCM Law Enforcement, BCM Traffic Services and Public Order Police in Mthatha and Gqeberha.
"We want to commend the efforts of our police and the entire security cluster for undertaking operations of this nature. This will send a strong message that criminality will not be tolerated," said BCM Spokesperson Samkelo Ngwenya.
"This operation comes at the footsteps of our road safety Easter launch which targets road safety. We are very much aware that criminals use this busy period of the year to do opportunistic crimes and operations of this nature serve to ensure that we keep our streets safe," said Ngwenya.
